North Seahike Tour big success

In the spring of 2023, the Seahiking organisation went on tour along the Dutch coast to put the sport on the map. During the North Seahike Tour, we touched down at four different locations – from the Wadden Sea to Zeeland – at enthusiastic surf schools. We offered free trial sessions so locals could get their first taste of this new form of exercise. The sessions were busy, participants were all enthusiastic and several locations decided to start offering seahiking as an activity. We consider the Tour a great success!

Four locations, from the Wadden Sea to Zeeland

Thursday 4 May saw the first try-out at Paal50 on Vlieland. After a successful session, the outdoor events bureau decided to permanently offer seahiking for groups of island visitors: paal50.nl/activities/sea-hiking

After the try-out proved a success, we were able to officially kick off the Tour! We did so on Sunday 7 May at Waves ’n Ripples in ‘s-Gravenzande. By now, this surf school also offers seahiking, both weekly sessions and single bookings for groups: www.wavesnripples.nl/seahiking

On Sunday 28 May, the tour touched down at BeachBreak in Noordwijk, where we were part of the No-Pro FOAM Thrashers Surf Contest, an accessible surf contest for all levels (except pro). It was a festive day with once again many successful sessions and enthusiastic participants.

With the Tour starting in the far North, we ended at the almost southernmost tip of the coast. On Sunday 4 June, we gave some fun sessions at Surfkaravaan in Ouddorp. Currently, you can seahike here too, either at one of the weekly sessions or by booking as a group: surfschoolouddorp.nl/seahiking

New locations

With three new seahiking locations, we consider the Tour a great success! From Vlieland to Zeeland, you can now join regular seahiking sessions.
